sharpening broadheads

Any good links to posts on this?

I was amazed how a couple of swipes from a fine grit stone can touch up your edge. I know the montecs edged up really nice.

I do not use Montecs anymore but moved to the Strikers. However, I had my best edge on my Montecs after using some 600-1000 grit sandpaper AFTER using the G5 stone. Very light strokes on the sandpaper.

The replacement blades for the broadhead I use are razor sharp so I don't sharpen them but if there is any doubt of the condition of the blades, I do replace them with new since razor sharp must be expected. Properly handled, they should maintain an edge until shot at something. Hit or miss and no matter how good or bad they might look, once used, I replace.

I do the same thing when using Slick Tricks. For cut on contact heads, I like the G5 dual grit stone followed by a leather strop. For all other heads, it's hit and miss for me. You can buy the adjustable angle stones but I've not shot enough of these type to warrant the purchase. Otherwise hand sharpen or use the carbide type sharpeners perhaps.
