Shingle oak

Depends when you want em. I don't have any from this year BUT I have a ba-zillion trees on my farms- if you want some from next season, I can easily load you up

Check with Kelly Tree Farm in Iowa, I think they have some seedlings, also look at their Swamp Bur Oak Hybrid (love that tree) grows fast seems to survive very well on most soil types

Yep I have many also but never got any acorns this fall. Wanting to start some seed or plant some seedlings this year. Thanks guys I will check them out.

I can load up on me next fall too. Have them growing all over the place and they are right along the field edges to pick off the trees.

From a timber standpoint does the shingle oak have much value?

I have a mess of them also and dont know anything about them.

In my area they are right behind locust and cedar for abundance.Remind me of pople in MI. They sprout up all over. Not sure how they spread, because I rarely see any acorns on them?

Nope no timber value but just about the same as hedge trees for a living fence. I'm using them as a screening in the timber. They usually keep their leaves through winter. Also on a windy day they can make enough noise to drown out your coming and going. Mice pack alot of them around to sprout all over the place.

They are the most prolific acorn producer year in and year out on my farm. Even this past year, they were mostly loaded with acorns.
