Shoot through screen question

There was a discussion maybe a year or so ago about shoot through screens on blinds and fixed vs expandable. I can’t remember the discussion. Do expandables work through screens? Does cut on contact expandable make a difference? The blind I bought (Cabellas umbrella style) strongly recommends fixed blade. I like expandables and really don’t wanna reinvest in fixed.

Any firsthand experience with shoot through screens appreciated.

I shot at a doe last year through the mesh on my matrix. I was shooting Jak Hammer's and the hole in the mesh was the full 1.75". The arrow flew funny and went right over her back. I wont be shooting through the mesh with expandables again.

I'd avoid using expandables through screen. Go buy a single package of 3 Slick Tricks and if they have them, a single pack of replacement blades. That'll give you plenty of shooting without a large investment. They shoot just like a field point or expandable so no sight changes required, just go hunt. Plus they put a nasty hole in em.

Shot some old dull Muzzy three blades throught the screen today and there wasn't any change in POI. Changed to a 2 blade Rage. Just shot it once. It left a two inch slit in the screen and shot about two inches low. I was diggin through my "possibles" drawer today and came up with a new six pack of three blade Muzzys so I'm good to go, and if I'm not in the blind I'll use the Rages.

Thanks for the input.

I shoot the rage 2 blades and me and my buddy have done many tests by shooting at out glendel full rut and the shot straight and the blades did not deploy in our testing so we will be giving this a try this year.

Bonker, you're able to shoot a bow??? Thought you were out for the year? Sounds like the deer are in trouble!!
