It seems that with all the archery shooting I do, some of my guns are starting to feel lonely. I had a little time this morning so I took my old flinter out for some much needed time afield. There's just something about that flash of fire and smoke then just an instant later the thunderous boom of 100 grains of black powder pushing a round ball down range.
I've got quite a history with this gal and all of it good. Won a lot of shoots back in the day. She isn't near the looker as she was 28 years ago, a few battle scars, scrapes and bruises, but still a blast to take out.
A few specs, custom built by Jack Swankowski, .54 cal, 1 in 72 twist. Nebraska walnut stock.
Jack has gone on to build a lot of guns since, but this is serial #001.
