Shotgun Bird

After I got home from our South Dakota hunt I worked for a day

and that night headed out for a hunt with some friends at their new farm. My wife sure is getting sick of this by now.

The first morning I sat an area that a few birds had been frequenting

but on this particular day I only saw one Tom and he came out of the woods three times but did not want to play. It was a very long sit to say the least.

I traded the bow in for a shotgun so I could see more of the farm and hopefully call in a bird for a buddy that has not shot very many.

We watched four birds in a field for about an hour. As soon as the hens left them I thought we were in paydirt but they skirted us a 75 yards.

We decided to do a litle running and gunning around the woods perimeter.

First spot we came to I gave a few soft yelps and Bam a gobble 40 yards away in the woods. He dropped into the grass and I hid in some trees.

Five minutes later I see a white head and out he comes. Game over for him and when I saw his buddy game over for him also.

Tagged out. This has been an incredible season.
