how many of u people go shotgun hunting? first second??? its only a week away--- i cant wait i'm pumped. thats like all i'm thinkin about now- shotgun hunting. I'm addicted at the young age of 16 whenever i go to sleep thats all i think about is shooting a big buck with my shotgun- even tho i would rather shoot them with my bow, i cant wait. aren't any of u guys excited????

I'm excited for it. I know that some people don't consider it "hunting" but I do. I'm also excited to try late muzzleloader for the 1st time this year.
 
i will be coming down to iowa dec 14th for the second shotgun season. i will be hunting zone 2. anybody have any idea what kind of pressure i will face. i plan on hunting public land south of webster city.any advise would be helpful.
 
MAX- I bow hunt 5 miles north of Webster City, and I go 1st season shotgun there as well. I think more people go 1st season, so you shouldn't have tremendous pressure. I'll ask my father-in-law, he'll know more.
 
thanks spine, i have hunted down there during the bow season and never saw another bowhunter. this year didn't draw a bow tag,but got a shotgun tag in the leftover sale. i just don't know what to expect. i would trade my remington 870 for my hoyt any day. thanks for the help.

Going first season. Friends, family, camp stories, and oh yeah deer hunting. Definitely looking forward to it.
 
You might be surprised at the lack of pressure on public land. There is some land around our place that never gets hunted. I think alot of people think everyone hunts it and then it never gets hunted. So try your luck and you may be surprised. I would just pick a good looking thick area and just wait, their should be enough guys in the woods you should see something.
 
i hope that is the case. i figure during the middle of the week there shouldn't be much pressure. do you think the late rut will be going on by that time???
 
Just reworked the bowstands for next weekend. Have the smokepole all tuned up. Kind of fun backpacking and setting all day and listening to other hunters shooting.

Hope everyone takes at least one deer home with them. I plan on taking 2.

I will be going with my son first season. It willbe his first year out so it should be fun. Only a couple of days left.

I can't wait for this weekend. This being my second year deer hunting and my first with my black powder rifle I am pumped up to say the least. I have had a hard time getting back to sleep when my daughter wakes me up in the middle of the night for her bottle. I have been dreaming about deer. I am going to a Whitetails Unlimited banquet tomorrow. I think I have a bad case of Buck Fever!
 
good luck to all you first season shotgunner, just leave a few for us poor sapps that can't hunt until second season. i hope everyone is successful and safe.
