Looks like the DNR is getting serious about catching poachers here in Van Buren county. In just about every store or business around here they have put up signs offering $10,000 for info leading to the conviction of whoever has been shooting bucks and cutting their heads off. Anybody else seen any of fliers or is just in our little corner of the world? Just wondering.

That's great! Hopefully with that kind of a reward someone will come forth. Nice to see the DNR coming out doing something about it!

no haven't heard of this but that sure is a hefty reward, hopefully thier succesful and don't have to worry about this nonsense anymore.
 
splitty, no BS here, the people who are offering that reward are private landowners and such getting sick of poachers in the area. i've talked to a couple people involved in it but am not going to say anything else for my own reasons.
 
I wish that land owners would get some thing going like that in my county it gets danm old.How mant bucks have been found ?

I haven't heard anything on the number of bucks but one is to many. I'm sure it is like every where else, most hunters around here know who the big poachers are but catching them and proving it is a different story. If the money is being put up by private individuals it has to be people that have ground leased in Van Buren county because I don't know of any farmers around here that would be willing to put up that kind of cash.

I can't remember the name(& I wouldn't post it here) but the VB county paper- December, reported a minor convicted for spotlighting and poaching- I don't think it mentioned any fine.
 
Man that's a nice wad of jack, hopefully it'll make some lowlife turn on his poachin buddies. You know the old saying, Money Talks, Bull#@$% Walks.
 
This looks like a business opportunity for me. I hunt everything else, might as well be a bounty hunter also. Thing is I would want to have a gun and a spot light to, wonder what the DNR would say if I said I was hunting Poachers?

I've said here before that the public (us) could make the biggest difference in nailing poachers. Here's an opportuntity for us as a group to do something good to benefit all deerhunters.

All Iowawhitetail members that are willing to participate could make a donation to an account set up to pay out for information leading to the arrest of poachers. We could put out flyers in all the local sport shops. I'm sure our local CO's would support this and help to some extent. I think a little bit from a lot would add up quickly. I don't know..........Just a thought.....

Moose that's a good idea. There are over 3,000 members correct. If everyone threw in a dollar to the reward pot that might encourage some people to actually call and turn the pochers in.
