Slave/External Flash

Anyone try adding an external/slave flash to a trail cam? I've got the Bushnell 11-9200 and can't see anything at night.

I read somewhere about a slave made from an old Sunpak 522 (I think that was the model). They mounted it in an electrical junction box. Had the sync cord plugged to a slave trigger. Not sure how battery life would be always on standby mode.
