Slow Down

I sat in the tree all Thanksgiving day to see two does and a ton of turkeys. The full moon and fresh 4 inches of snow we had gave me high hopes of seeing a good one through mid-day. The bucks must be resting after days and days of chasing and breeding. Will give it one more try this weekend prior to the start of gun season. Did anyone else hunt on Thanksgiving?

Missed you at the house about noon bud, I had figured you were in the tree. I hunted a lot on Thanksgiving day with only one buck sighting. I found myself sitting in the tree until about 6:15 due to the snow and moon. I could have sat all night if it were legal to shoot.....That snow makes a world of difference. I plan on hunting next to a corn field this weekend just to see what happens past.

Pretty slow for buck movement here to. The does are starting to bunch up and bee line for the fields in the evening. Haven't seen a buck cruising the last two times out. Have another doe tag to fill, so it's nice to see them on a food pattern.

Hunted N Central IA both 11-24 PM and 11-25 AM. Saw small bucks following does both days but not a lot of movement. T-Day morning I did see a buck come in to check some does grunting but he wasn't real frisky with them and ended up bedding down at 8:15 AM like he was tired?? A busted up 2 yr. old. Like everyone else has said, I will be at it Sat. AM and Sun. PM for what most likely will be the last chance before the lead starts flying here in IA.

Hunted last night and saw 2 does and 2 bucks. Both does were being chased by the bucks. Too bad the bucks weren't the shooter I was looking for. 1 was 10 yrds and the other was 25.

was out wed AM saw 5 does all came together was picked off trying to fill a doe tag hate when that happens!!
saw a good buck about 1/2 hr later one I've seen several times he is a basic 10 and has a drop tine on the rt side about 7-8 in long and it looks like maybe 2 smaller drops on the left but it's hard to tell for sure until he is on the ground fortunately for him he was outside my range

I hunted about 4 hours in the morning. Saw a buck with five good tines on the left and broken just past the brow tine on the left. Too bad, he was a nice big bodied deer. I missed a dandy 10 pointer (I'm not good at judging P&Y scoring) but he was bigger than any deer I've ever gotten a shot at. I hit a twig that I didn't see, must have only been 3/16" and only a couple yards from the buck.
Oh, well, that means I get to go out again tomorrow!
I'm not seeing as many cruising either.

Did not hunt tonite but did see a nice 3 yr old nine pt P&Y chasing what looked to be a doe/fawn in a field with three other more mature does feeding. He was a shooter at this point in the season.

I hunted thanksgiving morning, i had 8 does coming through with about a 150 class ten pointer behind them, he got to about 5 yards away from my shooting lane and turned around, with his nose to the ground, and walked away. I couldn't get him to come in. Around 9:30 I saw an absolute giant by himself wandering but he wanted nothing to do with me. It's been a rough week for me, so many close calls, all in range, just cant get a shot. However I have shot 3 does in the last couple days, im gonna go for the 4th in the morning

One lone small buck passed by at 60 yards this AM about 7:30. Will be out to pull a stand tomorrow AM out of some public ground and then will sit tomorrow PM. Hope to have some better traffic.

Hang in there, Mike and Brent. I know how rough it can be when you just don't get any shots. I certainly hope your seasons will turn out better than mine did. Stick with it and don't let these tough times beat you!!
