Tell me more about how many deer there aren't...I see 90+ deer a night in the stand. They're bad in this area.

They herd up in the winter.. You more than likely have deer in that spot that normally live quite a ways away.. I could be wrong ;) Either way, looks like you've got a great spot to find some antlers!

Lucky you! As a hunter, your saying that's a bad thing to have? I wish I saw a 1/4 of the deer you claim to see in a night out in the stand.

What part of the state are you in? It must be Southern Iowa? I'm assuming your in Iowa.

I wouldn't say they're bad in your area, just grouped up now. Don't judge your #'s based on what you are seeing now. Take inventory in the spring and summer and it will give you a better idea :way:

Heck, enjoy it TH. Looks like you'll have no problem picking up some bone :way:

When I moved to Southern Iowa from Michigan, I quickly found out all of Iowa is not equal, when it comes to deer numbers. Especially with all the managed hunting lands, preserves, farmers who want em all dead, poaching. Numbers can vary to unbelievable extremes. Driving around my part of Iowa,,you may see 3 or 4 deer together in a field, evenings.

That's the truth! I've sat at farms with fields full of deer & my buddies up north complain they are seeing very few. Wish I could trap some & ship em! :)

Cool! Is that a dried up pond?

Yeah...it's normally full. Found a shed on the edge of it last year. I was hoping the match was underneath the water but I think it's in the mud.

I filled my tags and my Dad filled his tags first day we sat out. I'm in Southern Iowa, I see those groups during the summer but it's just bucks 5-8 of them at a time. We don't have a problem seeing deer its just that the bucks leave after rut and I didn't have a bow tag so I didn't go to our stands and I took my cams out of the area.

Be glad you have deer in your area..I was down this weekend, and the two neighbors each had over 20 deer hanging in their machine sheds in the 50 degree temps not skinned...heard hundreds of shots over 4 days... I saw 10 deer on the ground I hunt in 4 days...usually it was well over 100... I found 30+ carcass's which I will assume are from EHD...not looking good in NE Montgomery county on my farms anyways...
