something noteworthy

this last weekend, i tried something i usually never do. i was always under the impression not to grunt unless you see a buck, well this weekend i grabbed the ole grunt call mainly out of boredom, and i would grunt one way then wait a few seconds grunt straight out in front of me, then wait a few seconds then grunt to the right of me trying to act like a walking buck and to my suprise right away i had a 125 class buck come in, i let him leave then tried it again about 15 minutes later, then i had a 140 class buck come in, i was about to draw then i noticed right behind him was a monstrous 12 pointer, but no shot showed itself, so i thought man im on a roll, so i waited awhile did it again and here came a 150 class nine pointer shredding everything in its way, i thought i got you sucker, just about to pull back, then a i heard something behind me, looked behind me and a 160 class 10 with splitbrows was standing there, trying to get a shot at him now but then again to no avail. so then i was really pumped and did it again, but this time the boone and crockett spikes came in to investigate. so now thats my new method, im sure some of you already do this but if you dont do it, you might want to give it a try!!!!! goodluck!!

You had better luck than me. I tried the same thing one morning. At the time I was sure there were no deer close by. I blew the grunt call a couple times and here come two nice bucks running by me like they were on fire and looking for water. I had the same thing happen that evening too.

Needless to say I put the grunt call away. Maybe I was too early (mid October)

Holy cow? I wish I saw bucks like that! I see about 10 does to every 1 buck where I hunt(East Central Minnesota). Good luck

I'm calling bullshoots!! No way you saw that many nice bucks in one night. Just kidding.

Michael......were you in Burlington? I've seen some nice bucks, but I haven't had a clear shot yet. I shot at a big 8-ptr, but it was just getting light and I didn't see the tiny branches of the tree and hit them causing the arrow to deflect and hit only the dirt. I've been seeing the nicer bucks with does, and they won't respond to anything whatsoever. I'm getting pretty frustrated! I was supposed to have tomorrow off so I could hunt, but we're short staffed and so I have to work and won't get out until the weekend, but I get a three day weekend, so I guess I'll just turn off my cellphone so they can't find me. I should've picked a different career, let me tell you. I should've taken some of my vacation time for bowhunting rather than early muzzleloader in Burlington. Oh well...saving it up as I'm going to Sasketchewan with Tracy on a bowhunting black bear hunt in May. Randy is going along, too. I hope I don't get ate and better yet, I hope I don't freeze to death. I've been buying those hot packs that last 8 hours and putting them on my upper back and they help me a lot as I can pull back my bow when I get cold as I don't get all shivery and stiffen up. They work great!!! Now, if I could just get my boots on with those foot warmers I'd be okay as it doesn't matter what I do, my darn feet freeze to death in those rubber boots I wear. I need some of those Alaskan boots, but Tracy says they aren't scent proof so insists that I wear those heavy rubber camo boots I have that go up to my knees. Oh well...I have to go do some more laundry as I have to get a few more loads done before I go to work.

Good luck at getting the big one, Michael, and let me know what zone to hunt when I go down for late muzzleloader (yeah, right!)

I grunted the Husker fight song Saturday morning. Didn't work...no bucks and the shuckers got demolished by Texas.
