Don't want to take away from what this forum is about but the future will affect everything, even hunting. This was sent to me today and really makes a scary point.

Scary Obituary

In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.

A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.

From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years.

During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage."
The Obituary follows:

Born 1776, Died 2012
It doesn't hurt to read this several times.

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota,points out some interesting facts concerning the last Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the
"complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's - and they vote - then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message.

If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.

This is truly scary!

Of course we are not a democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic.

Someone should point this out to Obama.

Of course we know he and too many others pay little attention to The Constitution.

There couldn't be more at stake than on Nov 6, 2012.

If you are as concerned as I am, please pass this along.

"Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29"

gotta doubt the source with math like that.:D

I got this email a couple of weeks ago and it initially seemed pretty scary but then I looked into it a little more and its basically a bogus email with false data and facts. Look it up on snopes.com. Not trying to put down your intentions, thanks for keeping us all informed, however there are more fake email chains/forwards than there are real. Be careful about what you believe.

Can't be denied though,,politicians handing out goodies for votes, is the way things are going. Nothin new ,,just more massive in the goodies dept now..

Seen this too... But, c'mon this is feakin' America! We are NOT like any other country in history or a fabricated formula based on failed societies...

This current, sorry excuse of an administration is about to be seriously embarrassed! The constant racism and complete disregard for what is morally and ethically right has awakened a sleeping giant, and I believe this November we are going to see a freshly redirected nation led by a real man with a moral base and a SPINE...

I'm not to partial to that kind of negative outlook... We have the option to redirect the greatest nation in history, regardless of what the past might insinuate. We are in charge of our future, the end.

~One Pissed Off yet Damn Proud American!!!!

Thomas are you really talking about Romney?

I think he is the lesser of the two evils but wish the Republican party

could find something better. IMO

i agree with you in a lot of ways risto, but i do think his business sense could be just what this country needs to start balancing the budget. also, i really do like Paul Ryan.

Not gonna argue with you Tony. Don't agree with much you say so I'm not even gonna bother. Good Luck!

Simple question Thomas sorrry you feel that way about me.

No offense taken.

I am conservtive as they come and will vote anyone against Barry

Romney flip flops more than a carp on the bank and it will take more

than him to get us out of this mess. JMHO.

Moose I do like Paul Ryan and what he stands for. That is the man reason

I am a republican because of the ideology that they stand for.

Romney just has not impressed me but yes I am voting for him.

Term limits is the only way out. JMO

Would be nice to get the professional politicians out of there.

How many seats in the House and Senate are up for grabs?

Anyway the Republicans can get a majority in both? If not we are looking

at four more years of nothing?

I think there are nine in play so the republicans need to win six for a senate majority

This is exactly what we need to happen. I do not find it likely to happen; they would literally have to vote themselves out of a job!

Maybe Romney, or some future president, could instutute house/ senate term limits with an executive order! Obama has shown that you can do this with whatever you want!

Bottom line is we are headed in the wrong direction and if Obama gets re-elected we're screwed. Can't help but feel paranoid, lost my job of 38+ years and if the economy doesn't turn around it will turn all the retirement dreams upside down. The majority of americans worked hard for what they have and we have to fight to keep it. The farmers, tradesmen, factory workers earned what they have and we can't stand by and let the minority class that rely on hand outs take it from us like the last election with Acorn's sneaky tactics. Pa just passed a voter ID law which is causing a fuss with the minorites, it's a step in the right direction from my perspective though.

Romney has made some domb comments but it's about the republican platform and Ryan is a great choice to help turn things around.

I'm afraid you are right, therefore we will probably continue down the path we are going. The wild card would be jobs...good jobs that produce things. That would produce the revenue needed to dig us out. That would stop the need to steal from the rich. Tax breaks for business to come back and lighten up on all the green B.S. But even if the jobs were to come back, technology has taken a good share of them. Looking a little on the grim side.
