I was lucky enough to witness the emergence of a Cicada tonight. My wife and I were talking about the noisy little critters earlier today so I took this picture to show her when she got home.
That is a really sweet pic, I love listening to them but when there in your house at night and you can't find it or get to it. They become a real problem, thanks Rack for sharing your picture of your other side.
Have you guys ever looked closely at an adult cicada? The ones we have around here have a really neat camo pattern on their backs. I believe this is to help them blend in to the foliage and hide from critters that would try to eat them. Neat colors, and I think our hunting camo makers could learn a thing or two from looking at nature. Who knows, maybe they'll even be a RealTree pattern called "Cicada" someday.
That’s an incredible photo, Rack. I’ll bet you could sell it to a nature magazine or something. I saw one last week that was on a tree like that while I was out hiking. He was just sitting there all new and shiny by his empty shell. They really are quite beautiful.
