Speed or Power?

I have been contemplating on going to a heavier setup. Right now i am shooting cx 200 arrows with 100 gr heads. I have a short draw length at 27/60lb with my mathews LX and with this setup it chrono's at 250 fps.
My thinking is this. I hardly ever get shots over 30 yds so why not go to a heavier arrow so if I make a bad shot(knock on wood) I'll get a little more penetration or do you guys think it won't make much of a diff. so keep th speed.
I'm thinking of getting the easton full metal jacket 400's and going to 125 gr. head.
Now I figure this will drop my speed down quite a bit(not that Im getting much anyway) but I should have a lot more power in the arrow I would think.

There are alot of intelligent guys on this site so I want to know your opinions on this and also what you guys prefer?

Quiet and Accurate are the two most important in my book. Speed is not an issue. I shot much better with my old High Country that was very slow by todays standards but I could hit a quarter at 50 yards with it. (Now I wish I could see a quarter at 50 yards.

More weight will reduce noise and speed but like I said, if your accurate who cares. You will still have more than enough KE to get the job done on a whitetail.

If you want to figure your knockdown power.. figure your kinetic energy. Which is....

Velocity x Velocity x Total Arrow Weight

This will give you your KE factor. You may be suprised to learn that heavy and slow is not always the best route to go. The best way in my opinion is to maximize your arrow weight but still maintain the speed, that way you have the best of both worlds. A lot of times you have to play around with shaft selection, what grain head to shoot, and your other arrow components... knocks, collars, wraps, etc... they all affect the total weight of the arrow. Arrow selection can become a science, and actually addicting, much like the high powered rifle guys that are always on the never-ending quest for the perfect powder-load-bullet combination! Have fun!!!

Velocity is your Feet Per Second (FPS) You will need a chronograph to show you your speed. Your local bow shop should have one.

Whatever put's that arrow where you aim it, that's my priority period! My bow only shoots about 260 with a 70 lb. draw, heavy arrows, with a big cutting diameter. Deer don't seem to care, they very rarely make it past 70 yards!
