spine shot

My brothers dog came home with this spine one day, a closer look showed it had a little prize inside. My first reaction was how could somebody not have retrieved this deer with the broadhead stuck right in the spine like that? But a few days later I picked it up again and was looking at it and realized the spine had grown around and right through the holes in the broadhead. I dont know how long that would take but Id say this deer lived at least a year after the injury. Every once in a while Im just completely amazed at how tough these animals really are!

Fall Guy's buck 12 pak was like that last year......I am pretty sure it was his own broadhead. I need to recover a muzzy this fall if the deer presents himself to me..he was close to 170inches when the arrow went in and that was 2 years ago

during late season muzzleloader I got back my Thunderhead on last years deer I couldn't find during bow season. But someone else found him before me and took the head. I guess I can't blame them but I wish I knew who it was.

Many years ago I arrowed a nice 8 pointer that I decided to have mounted. As we skinned him out,I noticed something shiny in the backstrap on one side near the neck. You guessed it...a perfect Satellite 3 blade head that scar tissue had completely grown around and covered up. Truly amazing!

P.S. Looking at that picture it's darn lucky that dog didn't tear it's mouth up carrying that thing back to the house.
