Spot Hogg Real Deal sight ?

Cornfed

Bowhunting Addict
This looks like a really durable, quality bowsight. My only concern is the low light visibility... seems to be very little fiber optics compared to most other manufactures. Does anyone have any experience with low light visibility with this sight?

oh boy, where that photo onecam???

found it. With a little help this is the best sight out there! hands down completely invinsible! I bet it would even withstand a fall from oh lets say 25 feet!

So what you are saying is that a guy would have to add a foot or so of extra fiber optics to get a good viewing in lower light

...... what about their pin light that they sell? Too much glare to be really useful?

Dennis,
There is a whole post on here titled Spot Hogg lovers. I added some fibre to my Hogg it after seeing the idea on Archery Talk and what Chris has is what it evolved into minus some sneeky leaves. To answer your question the low light visibility is fine. By the time you can't see the pins it is way past shooting time. They do have a light system but in my opinion it is sub par. It needs work. The one last thing I would add is that if you are using it for hunting I would go with the .29 pins. These make the pins plenty bright through the duration of shooting light. I have both the Hogg it and the Hunter Hogg it and like them both with the nod going to the Hunter Hogg it for hunting due to the reduction in weight.

If your looking for durability buy Spot Hogg with confidence. I have never seen anyone tougher on equipment then Chris and if that sight can make it through several seasons on his bow. It is bullet proof.

BTW if you do purchase a Spot Hogg site and want fibre added I would be happy to do it for you... I have several thousand feet of fibre optic...

How do I get to these 'Spot Hogg lover' posts.... when I type it in the search I can't seem to find it.... Thanks for the insight.... I am leaning pretty heavy toward the Spot Hogg sights...

Limb,
I've been wanting to do that to my sight. Would you want to sell some fiber optic?

I would but it is dirt cheap ordering it from the company on the Spot Hogg lovers post and you can choose from a ton of colors and get as much as you want. South coast fibre optics is the name of the company and the link is on the other post.

Limb - I have a Viper sight that I can't keep fiber in. There is supposedly some new fiber coming out that is designed to hold up much better - is this the stuff?

I don't know, Roger has been around for a while... I don't seem to have any problem with it. However, I don't "drag" my equipment from a rope behind me either...

Seriously though, I have had some of my fibres become brittle and shear off and had to replace them. At the moment I have no extra fibre extending from my hogg

and am in the process of re-doing them. I find the advantage of the extra fibre in a ground blind rather than a treestand. I don't have trouble in a stand during legal shooting hours with the supplied amount of fibre.

I just bought a Hogg It for my new bowtech tribute (which should be in any day now)and I LOVE IT! Its kinda high priced, but I just can't imagine a sturdier, more microadjustable sight. Once I get the 2d/3rd axis set and have it adjusted the way I want it...I'm gonna give it the ole fiber optic makeover. I hope that I can try her out on a nice fat gobbler in a couple of months

.

Limb...is your fiber modification still set up like in the pic. in the other post?

Yep...and its really easy to do. You gotta back out the screw at the base of the pin turret so that the pin retracts (to prevent damage from hitting the pin head on the middle wire). Then you just loosen the two screws below it on the pin guard and the whole pin turret will pop right out.

WNY Bowhunter. Yes mind is set up the same with the addition of some smaller tubing that Chris found to go over the exposed fiber that is in my original picture. I have also added the thill light in the end of the hose opposite the site ring. I used all green fibre and added a green thill light. If you use red fibre use a red thill light. If you use complimentary colors (green/red) they will absorb much of the projected light... If you use the same color they will be much brighter.

iowabowhunter50, yes you can take them all out if you like...

That is how you replace the fibre, take the pin out, take it off of the turit, slide the fiber in and line it back up...
