...one of my tree stands has developed a squeak...what kinda of lube do you guys suggest?...should I be concerned about the smell?...

I use corn oil or vegetable oil as a lube. You may need to reposition the stand or just move it an inch or two. This will get rid of the chain/strap stretch that could be a contributor to the noise
 
You can find them at most larger hardware stores, or a fastner house like Des Moines Bolt and Fastenall. I had to have the Delron AF washers made for me.

Better yet,

Toss it on ebay or in a garage sale and then go out and buy a Lone Wolf. I borrowed one of these last week and man are they nice and quite!!!!!!!
