Off topic but i wanted to take my little brother squirrel hunting sometime b efore im in the woods 24/7 and needed some help. Ill probably take my bow but he has a choice between a 410 and a 20 gauge and was wondering what you guys think is best and what kind of load he should use. hes only 11. so i figure we could have a lot of fun maybe even shoot a squirrel or two. thanks.

Just a suggetion, but do you have a .22 rifle that is chambered for .22 shorts? Might be a little more challenging, however, it might encourage him to "aim small, miss small." Also, might damage less meat with a head-neck shot. If a .22 is not an option, probably the .410.

I have lot's of fond memories of plinking squirrels as a small boy with my dad. Hope you have a fun and safe hunt!

i second mo- antertips. learn to shoot straight with the 22. he'll start to figure out what he has to do to be accurate even with out anyone's help.

thanks for the help and i realize the twenty two would be a great choice and would help shooting skills but all we have for rifles are a 22 mag and a muzzle loader. got the 12s the 20s and 410 but beside pheasant we use bows.

Are you going to save the meat, or just thin the population? If you're going to keep it, go .410, if not, blast away with the big bore.

Enjoy either way.
