My son Andrew (Startown 12) shot this nice buck in Minnesota on November 10th shortly after 8 am. This buck was following a doe when it came by Andrew in his ladder stand. He made a nice shot with his Savage 220 bolt action.

The buck had been rutting up our 40 acre farm which is a combination of mature oaks/ponds/thick draws and food plots. Although we never had him on camera?

This is the second buck (125-130 inch) buck for Andrew in the past two years in MN. He spends a lot of time hunting and helps me a lot with habitat work/tree planting/food plots.

Andrew is a student at NDSU (football powerhouse) where he is an engineering major. He hopes to have his own land someday to hunt and do all the habitat work and plots that we really enjoy doing!

Sure is fun to see your kids experience success but also to spend time with them not only hunting, but checking cameras, tracking, all the little things.

Very cool. Congrats as well. I can remember the 1st time my son and I sat in a stand real close together and he killed his first buck. Oh so cool.

The 40 we hunt on has been in the family since 1995. What is interesting about the land when we bought it for $30,000 was that it had a old farm house, bunk house (which is now converted to a hunting shack) a nice shed and old granary.

The old farm house (in the background of this photo) was owned by a family that raised 9 children in this house. I bet the house isn't 800 sq feet. How they all lived in that tiny space, I just don't know??

Makes you appreciate what you have! We see quite a few deer in around the building site, I wonder sometimes if we would do better just hunting by the old buildings!
