Mostly flat open country with few patches of timber. There are some decent river bottoms not too far away. Mostly privately owned. Definitely not the states best deer cover.
I wouldn't bother unless you know someone with land....AND they tell you they have deer on the land. Ive seen a couple nice ones on public land near Spirit Lake but they have always been hunkered down in cattail sloughs. Good luck.
If i was you i would go west toward Cherokee. Try the Little Sioux River South.Good public hunting.
If you drive 30 to 45 min. SW your in the North part of Loess Hills.Lots of GOOD public hunting around Correctionville , and the natives are friendly!
