Summer 2012

Been quite some time since I've posted..........

Needless to say, my life has been consumed with running in the mornings, baseball lifting after, kid/family time until early afternoon, nap times, and then off to the field mid-afternoon until around 10:30 for games....oh, did I mention we played 41 games this summer? :way:

It was a hot summer, but we managed. We had some great times as a family and for the most part, I said 'no' to the computer...again, for the most part.

We had a great baseball season that could always go better. We went 23-18, which isn't too bad for 4A baseball. It is the 2nd most amount of wins in school history, so we're battling a history of not-so-good tradition. We were 1-6 in one-run games, so add a few more of those in there and we're sitting pretty. We'll continue to build, hopefully, as the years go on. We have some very good young players.

Shortly after the season, I had surgery on my nose to fix a deviated septum...........NOT FUN! Throwing up blood from surgery, sleeping upright for 3 nights, draining for 3 days, and a post-op doctor visit in which she tore the healing flesh away from my cartilage about 'did me in.' Not to mention, I lost a lot of blood that left me with a heart rate in the 40's after surgery... BUT, the everlasting joy of breathing out of my nostrils freely is far worth it. :way:

Upon healing it was off to Cross Country camp...man, that is fun. 3 days in Decorah running the bluffs, fishing, biking, tubing, eating ice cream is where it's at! What a great week of recovery the good Lord had in store for me... :D

I had to sing in a wedding earlier in the summer and we were given a tremendous sunset where I couldn't resist snapping a few photos of the boys.

Finally, it isn't a Thede-summer without our trip to the zoo.

Teaching the boys how to feed animals and care for them with some up-close experiences:

And I couldn't resist the up-close-and-personal shot...

And we rode the ponies - but the boys imagined they were big-ol-bucking-broncos! Dad had them put that hand up and wave it around...

One of the shots I've always dreamed of is getting that great shot of a bald eagle. I can't seem to do it in nature, so the zoo would have to do...

And it wouldn't be complete without a trip on the train - Maddox would never let us live that down...

Hope you enjoy...sure went quick!! Now I just can't wait to check those trail cams in a week or so. They've been sitting for 2 weeks...gets me jacked up!

Great the hear from you Matt and great looking family! It apears that you have had a great summer. I feel for you on the nose surgery though, been there, done that. I remember the drainage and throwing up blood, that really sucks. Take care!:way:

Looks like you made the most of the summer and and for the surgery it was one of the best things I have ever done. My colds and sinus infections went from constant to rare, sure makes for a more enjoyable hunting season as I always had sinus infections all season long.

Great post, good to hear your schnoz is back in business too! :D It sure looks like you have a nice family there, congrats!!

The kids grow up fast, you will never regret spending all of the time with them now that you can. Our oldest just moved out last week and it just feels different without him at home every day. It seems like just last week my boys were your boys' age. Poof, a few years go by and they're gone. (Well I must confess that he still lives in the same town as we do, so it isn't as if we can never see him, but still...)
