Switchgrass for access

I planted miscathus and switch for screening along property border next to neighbors access trail. When I have been accessing the property for hunting I've noticed deer beds in switch. Do you think I'm bumping deer out of the switch when walking to blind in daylight? Wondering if I should do something different for access? My deer numbers and sightings are way down. Is there a type of screening that deer don't bed in?

How wide is your screen?

I do have deer beds in my sorghum screens from time to time, but on my property these are only utilized at night. Could be proximity to road however.

Almost like they feed in the field (6 acres) and rest during periods between feeding right at the food source. They are typically does that utilize them, seen a few on my cameras over the years..

My miscathus is 6 fert wide or about 4 to 5 rows. Added a couple extra rows in this year so I could have a lane between them to walk or drive.
Switch is 20 feet wide or so

I’d bet nighttime beds - almost impossible to tell though, without actually seeing them with a drone or something. We don’t see much day time bedding within the switch fields here - they always seem to prefer areas with above head cover - timber / thickets. I’m sure they would if there was literally nothing else around - even then they would still prefer one cedar or some structure. Thick coats can get hot in full sun I’d reckon, even in the fall!

A place I used to hunt had like 20 acres of switch. Every morning at daylight we would watch several bucks disappear in it to bed for the day. This is much wider than OP switch so could make a difference.

Agreed.. 20 acres much different scenario than 20 feet :)
