Arrow Chucker
A good friend took me to one of his favorite spots on Saturday. We got set up in plenty of time, but were disappointed when we didn't hear a single gobble. We decided that the wind was probably to blame and we were gonna stay put. After calling off and on until about 9:00, we finally heard a gobble not too far from where we were sitting. After a few purrs, the loud mouth popped his head over the hill. He spotted a hens that were feeding in the field and I thought he was going to head off with them. Instead, he spotted the B-Mobile we had set out and was soon on his way to throw his weight around. My good buddy Milo was in position for the shot. I was on the rangefinder whispering out the distances and Milo was patiently waiting for the bird to come into range. The bird got to 23 yards and Milo drew, the bird got to 20 and Milo missed :D. The gobby jumped back a few steps, then walked away about 10 yards and stood there trying to figure out what had happened. I grabbed my bow, dropped to a knee, settled the pin, and let 'er fly. I misjudged the distance a bit and hit him low, but with all the flopping around the bird did, I didn't think that he would go far. A short chase and a follow-up shot later...and my season is done :way:.

I felt pretty bad that Milo missed...but he was a good sport about it. One good thing is that he still has two tags so I can go without having to pack in a bow :D.

This is the first year that I have ever harvested two birds. Being tagged out feels pretty good to say the least. :way:
