Well fellas, after a long and incredibly tough season i finally had some success getting a buck down. I gave up on the two big tens i had been chasing all year and moved to a different farm on Tuesday, when i saw a huge buck that we had never seen before, he was standing on the edge of the fence about to jump into the field when the does got spooky and spooked him off. So my brother and i spent the whole week chasing this buck and his two "smaller" buddies, with sightings every night it just seemed like whatever we would do they would do something radically different every time. Last night we spotted him and a group of several bucks down in a draw, but one of his buddies headed out to a clover field at the opposite end of the farm. I decided then since it was my last night to hunt that i was going to try and sneak up on this buck. We snuck all the way around the farm and ended up getting within 205 yards of him and about 15 does. with that many deer around i took the first shot i had and dropped him at 200 yards. We got the whole thing on video, but when we walked up there something didn't quite look right and we were quick to discover BOTH antlers fell off! It was a mix of emotions, but I'm sure its nothing the taxidermist cannot fix. We also discovered what appears to be a rifle hole in his neck, it looks like someone tried to pop him in the head and just got a pass through on his neck! He ended up grossing 136 7/8 without a spread so he will probably be close to 156-158, with over 45 inches of mass! He's not either of the bucks i set out for this year but after a season of disappointment and a couple of mistakes I'm really glad to end the season on a positive note, knowing i tagged out and that we will have a few giants to chase again next year. This is the only picture i have for now I'll post more later:
