Filled my bow tag on the 24th. Not much of a story. Set up above a pair of 2 year olds and they came charging up the hill shortly after fly down. As soon as they seen the dsd jake it was on. The two beat on him for a couple minutes while I tried to get a good shot. Rushed the shot a little bit and ended up with a clean miss but they were so occupied with the decoy the let me have another and it hit where I was aiming. Ended up being a double beard. I didn't know it till after recovering him. Pry 20lbs 7-8 inch beards and 1 inch spurs.

After no luck yesterday morning I decided to set up and cut off some birds returning to the roost. I got setup at the bottom of a hill where visibility was slim. After sitting for about an hour I seen a couple hens top the hill with three toms in tow. They strutted and gobbled at 75 yards in front of me for a good half hour. Finally the lead Tom broke and headed my way and the other two followed. Anchored the lead Tom at 20 yards and the other two flew to the top of the hill and then turned around and ran back down and started beating on the one I shot. They let me get about 5 yards away before they gave up the beating and ran off. Pry 3 year old bird. 22-24lbs, 10inch beard, and inch spurs. Congrats to those that have tagged and good luck to those still trying.

Congrats on a couple great birds, that double beard is sweet. Seems this year for some reason a lot of guys killing multi bearded birds (myself included). Your second birds has some awesome coloring on his fan!
