Taking the plunge

I have only dabbled with trail cams to this point, but would really like to get a cam or two for this upcoming year. Is anyone here making good cams for a fair price or is there a recommendation of a modest priced cam that you could provide?

I would like to keep the costs reasonable in case one gets ripped off I am not out a big chunk of change, etc. For the most part I am thinking I want the cams to "inventory" the local herd, I am less concerned with picture quality. Reliability is a key though, as I may not be able to check these cams but once every 2-3 weeks or so.

If your not looking to spend a ton, look at some of the Stealth cams. I have 2 and love them, very reliable and very, very easy on batteries.

I agree!!!

The stealth cams are good for the price as far as trail cams go.

I love my cuddeback, but the batteries do last a long time with the stealth cameras.

Thanks guys, is there a partciular model number/name for the Stealth cams that you are familiar with?

What is the price of an entry level Stealth?

Daver, I think you might want to look at the Moultrie D-40. They are affordable and picture quality is adequate.

A good website for trail cam comparisons is Chasin game.

a friend and i bought Wildview xtreme 2 pks. we are getting really good pics.there only 2 megapixals but, have multiple exposures or video settings, time & date, picture quality resolution setting, usb output for a pc, and sd memory, on /off flash,i have been very happy with the quality.it could be faster as far as frames per second, but as long as you are checking the cards, you will see what you need to see. i think we paid $160.00 for a pair, but you can buy them singly for $99.00 .they come with a built in16mb ram high resolution 8. low resolution 12 . they have wheather resistant housing, they work well. you can spend a ton of cash on better ones, but these do just fine. i figure if in the event a cam would get stolen, im out a little, not a lot.there web site is http://www.wildviewcam.com, or call 888-304-6125.
