I'm wanting to make one of those targets that are compressed with all thread. I found out tonight at the archery shop that they make theirs out of sound board. They make it 16" thick but I was thinking about making mine only 8" thick since it wouldn't be used as much as theirs is. If I make it 48" wide by 48" tall and 8" thick I can get 24 pieces out of a 4'x8'x1/2" sheet. So I figure I'll need 4 sheets of the sound board at $8.00 a piece and can make a good backstop/target for a reasonable price. I need a good backstop to protect my privacy fence from getting holes in it when the target moves. Of course I don't hit the fence, but sometimes I let Headgear come over and shoot. Need I say more?
Anyone ever build one using sound board or any other material like some kind of foam board or anything? Any tips in the building process or does and don'ts would be great.
