Got my new bow....what kind of target should I be looking at? Most durable and easy on arrows.

Just was at a 3d shoot and shot rinehart targets for the first time. They were awesome! I liked them way better then the block or something similar. Durable and easy to pull arrows out.

The new 18-1 target they have would be a good start w/ so many different shooting angles on it.
Plus if you want to spend some money they have an awesome 30 pt buck target that is by far the most life like out there for 3d's.
Good luck,
TT

I lke the bag types for field tips; they last forever and offer two finger, easy arrow removal, and are cheap. Get a layered foam target like the block or similiar type for testing your broadhead flight and shooting broadheads into.
Here is a bag target that will last basically forever and is very cheap.

Checked out the rinehart website.............................. HOLY LICKSLPIT!!!!!!! I could dang near spend a week bowhunting bears with an outfitter here for the 30pt buck price.

I love this target and it is very easy to remove arrows from target.... i can also see how catchy your broadheads are on angled shots! I love it and am not near close enough to buyin a new one... all i have to do is flip to another side!

I buy my targets from the girls scouts and it has lasted me 2 yrs and looks like it hasnt been used. Plus it is a tax right off

All it is that hard foam that comes around T.V. and Electronics and then they banded it together in a bailer and then shrink wrapped it. They are awesome and only $50. I am trying to get more but my dealer hasnt headed up to get any and he wont tell me where he gets them.

They are 5ft by 3ft by 3ft

I have had the same small portable "Block" target for going on 4 years and it is still in decent shape.

I think I picked it up at cabelas for
40$$ or so on sale. Money well spent.

THA4, a modern compound bow will blow an arrow completetly through a square hay bale and either completetly through a big round bale or bury it up past the fletches out of sight. OK for a recurve, but not for a compound.

Wow so now you live on a farm also??? You need to tell your farming buddies to add a little more tension on their bailer to wrap the bales a little tighter. Or stop standing at 10 paces and shooting into the target. This is all I use for BH's and FT before I hit the timber.

I also shoot a Allegiance and a Guardian and havent had any issues.

So you better reinvestigate your findings or find a different farmer to buy from because bales of hay are the cheapest form of targets if you have a hay field near by

Guess my bow sucks cause it doesn't shoot through a round bale, niether does my buddies mathews.

I think maybey you are shooting at the flat end of the roundbale. Ive shot thousands of arrows into rounbales and it will stop my switchback every time assuming Im shooting into the rounded side. At $180 a ton they arent the cheapest targets anymore.

I agree with everyones comments on bag targets. They are awesome for fieldtips and very durable.

If your into saving money, you can make your own field tip target from shrink wrap. You can usually get it free from a factory or grocery store. I just made one that is 4'x4'x12", framed in green treated lumber, used chicken wire on front and back to hold in the shrink wrap, covered one side with old carpet (backing side out) and spray painted some dots on. Its heavy, but the large surface area is nice so you arent hitting arrows, or if you want to shoot long distances. If you dont mind hauling it inside or covering it, you can just shove the shrink wrap in a cardboard box. The box wears out, but the shrink wrap doesnt. Very easy arrow removal.

Morrell's Yellow Jacket is tough to beat for broadheads, especially for $45.

If you want a realistic target look into the Block's GlenDel Full Rut buck. It's a little expensive but its worth it, its got 6 sides to shoot and it gives you a better picture of what you'll be shooting in the fall.

Another easy and cheap way to make a field tip target is to pack seed bags (the plastic fiber ones) full of plastic grocery store bags. Works just as good as the store bought targets. You do need to double or triple up the bags so they last longer.

I have a $29.99 all arrow target I purchased at Fleet Farm. This is my second season and it is the same stuff the original block target and the black hole target is made off. I also think its made by the same company that makes the block targets.

Its cheap, but has held up well the past two years and if you have limited funds it would be a good choice IMO.
