Teflon Cable Slides

Cornfed

Bowhunting Addict
Anyone replace their factory cable slide with an after market teflon one? I am in the process of trying to 'idiot' proof my hunting bow for the upcoming season. My Mathews had a roller guard, so I am new to the cable slides on the Guardian. The last thing I want is to have it squeak at the moment of truth in wet weather. It is totally silent now, but I have to wonder if that would change in adverse conditions. Maybe I can just try to wet down the cable guard rod and see if I can get it to squeak..... I like to be prepared

Two thoughts to live by....

At the moment of truth, the time of preparation has passed.......

Once you have your pants down is not the most opportune time to start looking for toilet paper.

Im not sure which cable slide to get. BUT you could shoot some targets with the sprinkler on. Just kiddin, sorry im not more help i havnt thought of that problem. The factory one should be ok. The one on my PSE is just fine in wet weather. Good lookin out though....

We ordered in teflon slides for replacements, and have not had to change alot of them out yet. We did put on on a used bow and it seems to be holding out fine, and seems quite. As far as getting weathered, I recommend keeping your eye on anything you have! Just be sure to check the new slide over carefully first to assure the fact that there is no burs(same as you should do on releases) otherwise you will be soon replacing your cable and string!

I put a teflon slide on my previous bow as it squeaked one morning. Needless to say, the deer spooked and the teflon slide was ordered that night.

If you think it may make noise, I'd recommend changing it before it's too late.

It looks like Limbsaver makes a solid teflon slide that I am planning on getting.... I am certain that the stock slide on my Guardian in not teflon.. might work perfectly but I am not going to take the chance... for $15 I think the piece of mind is worth it.

Just installed one on a Parker tonight and honestly, it really did make a difference! We have the gold series ones here and they appear to be very nice and are only 8.99!

I think your making the right move. I am going to be changing mine over now too!

Just make sure you still have vane clearance. Especially if your shooting blazers.
