The Adams Press!!

Anyone that knows me knows that I like my bows and I like to tinker with them. One problem I have always had was not being able to press my bow to install a peep or drop away rest cord, or being able to change limbs.

After careful research and price checking I finally realized that $600 was not in my budget to buy a good bow press. So I decided to build one. You may see that it looks a lot like one that is currently on the market but I have actually changed some things on it to make it easier for me to use. I am currently making adapters for pressing "past parallel limb design bows".

You will be surprised to hear that I actually have less than $30 in materials in this press. (The jack was one that was given to me because the tire was bad on it.) But if I had to buy a new Jack for it I would still have less than $55 in materials. I am proud of it and it works well for what I need to do.

Here are pics of it. I built it in about 6 hours.

So when does this press go into production? /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Are you selling stock? I might be interested?

Send me one and I will write a review for you.

Just kidding! Nice looking press! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

Looks pretty straight forward. The only part that would need more than welding would be the floor anchors. Did you cut and bend them yourself or are they from something else?

Doesn't it always feel good to take somebodies cast offs and make something useful out of them? I know I enjoy it.

I built this with the help of a friend that has a fabrication shop on his farm. I used the weleder, Band saw, Punch Press, and the Hydraulic Press. He actually bent the standing Z Brackets for me.

I am very pleased with what I built and I actually am building 2 more for some friends. I just need to get it powder coated next.

nice concept. Is it modeled after the sure-loc X press? I wish I had more time to tinker.
