The boy does good - turkey and shed

My youngest son braved the wind, cold and rain yesterday and bagged his second ever turkey. This was simply a matter of sitting still in an area that we thought they would frequent, not a peep on the call, not a sound by the turks either, just a good ol' fashioned ambush. But he was happy! :way: It was a nice bird, about 22#, 10" beard and 1-1/4" spurs.

And giving "recreates" a bad name...here's a simulated "action" photo that he wanted. :D Hey, he's a teenager.

We did pick up an April shed too...although not our biggest one ever!

Here was the take for the year, before the whopper above that is...the biggest one on the left was found in the dark, while the boys were chasing a possum through the CRP. :D

Excellent bird for the young man.

Enjoy these times as long as you can.

Congrats on a fine season to date. :way:

Anyone patient to turkey hunt all day in that wind deserves a nice bird! Great sheds too! :way:

I failed to mention that he shot the darned thing at about 6:15A! He has better luck than I do, I think it survived for about 90 seconds after it pitched out of the tree. He thought he heard something, probably this bird flying down, and then a few seconds later it was standing there about 15 yards from him.

I have seen them land right where he was sitting a few other times and it was the corner of the field most protected from the NW wind that morning, so it was sort of according to a plan. :D
