I did some late scouting this morning. I started out walking through a 2 mile section 80% covered with timber. At first I jumped 3 does. After that I checked out my stands from last year to see how they were holding up. They were doing fine. I placed one camera out by a stand to check the first day of hunting season. After I made the sweep across the timber and was heading back I noticed a lot of movement ahead of me to the north (the wind was coming from the north also). It turned out to be those same 3 does and 3 bucks. Two of the bucks were chasing one doe while the other buck and the 2 does were bedded down by my stand. I didn't know that they started chasing this early but anything is possible in Iowa. I am really getting pumped for Oct 1st now!
