No dice for me. This was my 1st year applying for Zone 4 and with the amount of tags given out compared to the # of unsucessful applicants last year, I really didn't think I was going to get drawn. HOPEFULLY next year!! Good luck to those that have!!

I am in for the 5th year in a row for zone 4. I shotgun hunt in Cass Co. near Cumberland.

apparently there is something i'm not understanding here!!! you all have to hold a draw for your tags? you can't just go to the gas station and buy your liscence and tag? it's not like that here so therefore someone please fill me in with some info! if that's the way it is that sucks!

In Nebraska both residents and non-residents are have to draw for their deer tags. After that, if any tags remain in a given unit, they are put on sale over the counter. Fortunately the unit I hunt in usually had more tags than draw applicants, so it's relatively easy to get one.

Yep Split G you have to apply for your tags in Iowa. If you don't get drawn you get a preference point for next year.
I have a question though. If you have a preference point and you don't apply do you lose that point. A buddy of mine (not Rack) dropped the ball this year and didn't apply in May but he had a point. I thought I read someplace you use it or lose it when it comes to your preference points. Can someone confirm?

I drew my coveted zone 9 shotgun tag
this will be my third year in a row hunting iowa with a shotgun in zone 9, im hoping to best my 2002 deer(140" 9 point). maybe next year or in 2006 get a bow tag?? congrats yall who drew, better luck next year to those who didnt.

I cashed in my preference point for a zone 04 non-res bow tag! Took a nice 8 pointer in '02, hopefully I'll top that!
As for the earlier question on the preference point, I don't believe you loose it for not applying...should still be there for the '05 season.

I'm coming back! Started this year off with a great Iowa muzzleloader trophy on Jan. 1....what a kick it would be to end the year with an even BIGGER buck on Dec. 31st!!!
