There's a nesting pair of woodpeckers (not sure what kind) in a dead branch in a soft maple in my back yard. I almost cut the branch down the other day until I noticed the hole then heard the chicks. I'm a hard man but I do have a soft heart sometimes. One of the chicks bailed out and ended up in my garage, so I picked her up gently and crushed it (just kidding) and placed it on the lawn. Then it took off into our landscaping and I lost track of it.
I was never sure how many chicks were in the hole, but I know there's at least two more left. A male and a female.

Then I heard the one I saved from certain death in my garage, (small children have dissapeared in there) chirping and found her and trying to hide.
I'm enjoying my new camera.
