Things are happening early

Yesterday while working in the field I found my first scrape, and a large fresh rub. I have been waiting to get some hard horns on the Vcam, but they still mostly seem to be in velvet. Also yesterday I noticed that some White Oaks were starting to drop already, wow thing sure are happening fast this year.

ShedhunterMD I was out scouting a new area we aquired this year and found a fresh rub as well. I also thought it was a little early. I dont have trail cams set up but all the bucks we have been seeing are still in velvet. Cant wait until September 25th!!!!!

i find that most all bucks in ny will loose their velvet in the first 7 days of sept.

While trimming stands on Sunday I found a half a dozen scrapes by my favorite stand. If they are showing up this early it usually means a good fall in going to be in order in the area I hunt.

I have seen two bucks out of velvet already. One was on Aug. 30, the other was the next evening, Aug. 31

I noticed that the leaves on trees in my neck of the woods have started the colorful process of changing colors about a week ago. In fact, I have raked already. It looks like an early frost and I pray for snow on opening day of bow season! Git-R-Done!

Got my pictures back from my trail cam. I had two forkhorns together. One was still in velvet, and the other one had hard antlers...it's just a matter of time now!

My son and I saw a boat load off bucks on Sunday at sunset and many of them where completely out of velvet. Big ones and small.
