Man, I couldn't be more pumped to get out this week and try to call some birds. I've got my spots picked and I've never seen so much sign/activity this early.
I got all my crap out yesterday afternoon and went through the vest. I forgot how much stuff you could cram into a turkey vest! I've got it and the bow loaded into the backseast of the pickup. You know, just in case I get a chance to get out and sit on short notice!!!
I woke up this morning and realized I've got a 3 day work week ahead. I was ready for a beer to celebrate the upcoming vacation before my cup of coffee!
I see the weatherman has put BREEZY into the forecast for Wed-Fri....dammit! I hate hunting in the wind. I'd rather sit in a downpour.

If I get my bird Thursday or Friday I'm going down to tailgate for the spring scrimmage in Iowa City. Go Hawks!

I hear ya.....I have been ready for over a month now. I have my gun all sighted in and ready (it didn't even need it, of course), have my vest packed and re-packed, all my calls have been tuned up, and blinds all built out in the timber and field edges. I have been scouting the past few weekends with hunting buddies and family members and just getting out there in the dark of the morning and listening to them gobble gets my heart going! They have been going nuts! Leaving this week to head down with 3 of my college buddies for our annual 2nd season hunt, then it is down to Southern Iowa to call in my brother-in-law's bird during 3rd....then back home for 4th. I can't wait!
