Thunder, rain and gobblers

Any thoughts on hunting this evening if the rain and thunder in central Iowa keeps up? Good or bad? I gotta try something. Been a long couple days with not tom's in range and very few out of range. Help!!!

I'm curious to hear this too, the last couple days were bad for me.... might make it back down this afternoon. If I make I'll probably just setup on known turket hot spots and try to get one with the bow.

You'd have to be a complete idiot to be out hunting in a storm like the ones today are bringing up. Birds will hunker down until the stuff passes and then hit fields after it is gone. My suggestion is wait until the storms have passed, THEN go out into the field.

No turkey is worth the chance of getting hit by lightning.

these past few days were bad for me too. i only saw 3 gobblers all weekend and they were together early sat morning but they had hens right off the bat. i did call/decoy in two jakes from some hens this morning to within 5 FEET of me.. no joke. they never even saw me. but i came back home this afternoon because i knew it wasnt going to be any better hunting in the storms. i think i might take tomorrow morning off from school to go out after the storms to a different farm to try. that might work for everybody.

I headed out into the storm shortly after I posted that message. I figured perfect weather and doing everything right (according to my rules) hadn't paid off so I'd break a few rules. An hour into the storm with a quick break in the ligtning I had 8 birds come by. Six sported birds so I picked the biggest one and wacked him. Not a monster by any means but I was getting kind of desperate.
