Just got a new 60" King Kutter tiller with probably only 2-3 hours on it. I have a 74 horsepower tractor that is around 60-63 hp at the PTO shaft. Is this too much PTO power for this tiller. The manual said it was designed for tractors from 30-50 horsepower. Any thoughts?
I'm no expert but I think as long as you don't hit anything big with the tines running you should be OK. I'm gonna run mine on "economy" pto so the engine is only runing at 1500 rpm and the pto still turns at 540 so when I hit the stumps the excavator left I won't bust stuff up.
Thanks for the responses. Went through it yesterday with a fine toothed comb-regreased and changed the gear oil even though it only had a few hours. Rather be safe than sorry. Put in half of my new deer apple orchard on Saturday - great tips by Doubletree and will give the tiller a try this coming weekend
