TrailCam Trigger speed?

Cornfed

Bowhunting Addict
In my opinion (from very limited experience) a trail camera that is going to be utilized for scouting, and monitoring before and during season needs a quick trigger speed.

The frustrating part is that most trailcams do not publish their trigger speed. My current trail cam has a speed of consistently around 2 seconds... I thought this seemed slow, but a friend who has a much cheaper commercial trailcam has a speed of around 6 seconds. What is an average speed?

Two seconds is way better than most. The best I have seen is less than one second and it is a home brew combo of a P41 camera and the new BG2 controller sold at hagshouse. Now I am able to set up on crossing trails a still feel good about getting the subject mid frame. Two second trigger time is not topped by many available setups.

Ironwood,
That setting is for daytime only. The nighttime shots will still be about 2sec with a p41.

The best ive seen was an olympus hombrew. I believe the trigger time is under .5sec. They are fast but eat and eat batteries.

Jason, that is an excellent point... my timing was on using flash. Glad to hear few are faster

Does that mean you spin in circles?

I used to when my mom would nail only one of my feet to the floor. She finally got tired of cleaning up my puke from getting too dizzy so she started nailing both of my feet to the floor. I've got the scars, both mental and physical, to prove it. I just refer to it as my stigmata.

Why only one foot? My family was so poor she couldn't affford to waste another nail on the other foot. She actually had to find nails and straighten them with a rock before she used 'em on me. If I wasn't being too bad she would use the less rusty ones.

For amusement my big sisters would tie a hot dog on a stick, put the stick down my collar, that is if I had a shirt that was my own and see how many times I'd spin around chasing it before the dog got it or I puked.

You had to ask.
