Tripod screw question

I am trying to order a replacement tripod mount (quick detach head) and was wondering if anyone knew the standard dimensions of the screw for US cameras and camcorders, it is either a 1/4" or 3/8", I don't have the camera with me or I would just measure it and I am trying to place an order sometime today. Thanks for the help

Jarin...I would wait and check your camera for sure.

But, most cameras have 1/4-20 threads in the bottom. Most fluid heads have 3/8-16 threads. It all depends on your specific equipment.

Thanks Ghost, I think I will wait as you said to make sure, knowing my luck I would order the wrong one and it would take 4 weeks to exchange.
