True?

This is a friend of a friend of a friend story so I’m not 100% sure it is true. I’m posting to see if anybody else has heard of any similar stories.

A young hunter put a pic of their first deer on Face Book. The hunter did not register the harvest. A few weeks later the hunter got a letter in the mail from the Iowa DNR that stated they had seen the hunter's post on Face Book. The Iowa DNR congratulated them on their first deer harvest and reminded them to register the harvest with the Iowa DNR. They were not fined but just a friendly reminder that next year they need to follow the law about registering their harvest.

Anybody else hear this? I’m not convinced it happened but I could see it with electronic media being all the rage today. I suppose there is a way to search for hunters names on Face Book and cross refference them to license data bases.

I thought the DNR was swamped checking out reports of baiting. Didn't think they had time to be on FaceBook. :D

Dude, that wound had barely healed over and you just had to rip the scab right off.

OUCH.:drink1::drink2:

Anybody got a bandaid?

Maybe the IBA should support a ban on Facebook, then the DNR won't have to actually look for violators posting and can just cite anybody on Facebook. :drink2:

I know a kid who went out of state poached some turkeys posted the pix on his facebook then got busted. So yeah I think it is very possible.

It's extremely easy to register a deer. I don't see why people don't. I normally do it when I get the deer back home.

They should register it before logging onto facebook to post pictures...just my thoughts...obviously they cant say the internet wasnt working
