Trykon, Tribute, & Switchback XT

Cornfed

Bowhunting Addict
I have narrowed my new bow search to likely 1 of these three bows. There are things that I like and don't like about each (besides the fact that they all feel like a brick compared to my 1 1/2lb recurve )... curious if anyone has shot all three bows.... I am not interested in the brand vs. brand debate... I don't care what brand I purchase... I am just wanting a smooth, quiet bow that is easy to tune and dependable.... I would probably be happy with any of them.... I wish I could find someplace not too far from Cedar Rapids that would have all three of them to shoot side by side

I have shot all three and my vote still goes to the Switchback. My deciding factor is vibration, the Mathews is quieter IMO. Second vote would go to the Tribute, because it has a better feel on the grip then the Trykon.

Fred,

Did you travel to different locations to shoot them or did you manage to find someplace that is a dealer for all of them?

If you came down to Iowa City I know that between Scheels and Fin you can find all three of those bows.

I've shot the Tribute and Trykon, personally like both of them but havn't totally made up my mind. Both smooth, fast, and quiet.

I have not shot any of the aforementioned bows. Knowing that you are experienced tradtional shooter, are you concerned with the drastic bow length change? Going from a 58"+ tradional bow down to a 31-33" would scare me. I am shooting a 32" bow so I guess I am a hipocrit. But, I still like compounds in the 36" range with a nice hefty brace height.

I have had similar issues with difficulties trying to decide (although within the same manufacturer) and what I did was have the shop set-up the 2 or 3 bows I am interested in and not let them indulge me with which one was which. They handed me "a bow" that already had an arrow knocked and all I did was simply apply my release draw and shoot. I shot each several times and simply by process of elimination I chose the one I felt shot the best for me. I hate to say it but all 3 bows should be very similar in shot but, I always felt certain bows aimed better for me. Alot of the vibration and noise can be handled with the right accessories. Good Luck and have fun.

The only one that I have not shot is the Tribute. The switchback and Trykon are both smooth and quiet. I have only heard great things about bowtech also. I guess it is all about what you think. Just keep a clear mind when going in to buy one and not to think about what the fad is.

Well, I shot both the Trykon and the Switchback models today.... as well as the other models (XT & XL).... WOW.... after not shooting a compound bow in almost 20 years, I was impressed. These new bows are so much quieter and smoother than any compound I remember ever shooting. The speed was very impressive as well.... I was impressed with both bows.... I like the looks of the Trykon the best and the way it feels in my hand.... I liked the grip on it much better than the Switchback.... the Switchback seemed slightly smoother shooting, but it also was set-up for approx. 8lbs lighter pull... I hope to try the Tribute this weekend ..... this is going to be a tough decision

I am in the same boat I like all 3 you cant go wrong with any.The Hoyt to me just feels bulky and heavy compared to the others I.M.O. The Laminated limbs are a plus on Hoyt. Personally I am down to Switchback XT & Tribute they are almost neck and neck size, feel, performance. Between the two the Bowtech has a slight edge on price, performance wise with the Binary cams, and beyond parallel limbs are a little more forgiving to offset the short axle length. It seems to me that they are all playing catch up to Bowtech on the parallel limbs design. Matthews has been around longer has more accessories.

I have a Switchback XT and love it. Short, smooth, quiet and good brace height.
Keep in mind it's really the person behind the bow and not the bow. Good Luck.

I shot the tribute and the switchback and bought the switchback. Then the trykon came out and i shot that. Sold the switchback and bought a trykon. The trykon is soooo much quieter and absolutly nooooo vibration.
