Turkey Poults

This past week I have been seeing a group of young turkeys on a daily basis. There are three hens and about 25 young poults. They are now about the size of a hen pheasant. Pretty cool to watch.

I didn't know how the hatch was going to turn out due to the heavy rains we had in my area in May.

Anyone else seeing lots of young turks?

Seen my first ones of the summer this morning. Was headed out to put up Vcams when a hen with about eight in tow crossed the road in front of me. I grabbed the camera but they were into the corn before it could come into play. They are fun to watch.

Based on what I've seen and heard, we had an excellent hatch here in SE Nebraska. Hopefully, we'll have a mild winter to help with the carry over into next spring!

I have not seen as many turkeys around our farm so far this year as I did last year at this time. The crops we have in may hide them better this year. I hope they had a good hatch!

They are alive & well here! Here are a few pics taken from our house:

sweet pics KMTMIKE....look at the size difference in the bottom of the picture with the deer between the ones in the back and the polts towards the front...second hatch maybe or just a late brood? or maybe a early brood for the back ones?

who knows......saw 4 polts last weekend all about the size of a hen pheasant...seems like the ones we saw 2 years ago around this time were so much bigger but maybe im just making myself think that?

I think you have a problem with turkeys, looks as if you could use some help hunting them. I like the little drop on the buck...

Saw another big flock of young'n right in the road ditch last night. Wish I would of had my camera.
