Turkey Question

So I have a question for you turkey experts... When a beardless turkey is, say, 40yds away, how do you tell if it is a jake or hen?

Head color
feather color
Most jakes by spring will have a beard of some sort. If they don't, thet are not legal to shoot in the spring.
When in doubt of target,don't shoot.

If it is beardless it is illegal. Easy to tell though by head and feather coloring. Binos help out a lot as well.

Bag Limit: Daily Bag and Season Possession Limit is
one bearded or male wild turkey for each valid license
and transportation tag issued to the hunter.
