Short story: I got to the stand and around 4:30 this guy came out with a doe, after several grunts and a couple snort wheezes he came all the way into five yards but I had no shot. He caught my wind and ran away, but I don't think he ever nailed down what I was because he circled a big brush pile and came into 35yards scent checking and looking for the other buck. After about 5 minutes he turned and trotted back up over the hill with that doe. I thought all was lost, but about thrity minutes later I caught a glimpse of him walking behind a cedar tree into the corn field about 150 yards away. I grabbed that horns and started rattling. I hung em up and thought well he will either come in or he wont. About five minutes passed and then I heard footsteps in the corn. Sure enough here he came. He hung up for a bit but a couple more snort wheezes brought him into 28 yards and the Strother Vital went to work. He is my biggest to date.
I have six on the wall between 132 and 147. I wanted to take a buck over 150 this year... He has two tines broke and still scored 150 6/8... had he had the 9" of tine he would have knocked on the door of 160. I'm feel very blessed. God is good.
