I'm going through this hassle right now. I am trying to send my Black Eagle to Benelli for a repair. I talked with Benelli's customer service and they said to send it UPS and let them know it is only gun parts (barrel is seperate from the rest of the gun). Then Benelli would ship it back to me UPS. Well, my wife went to ship it and they would have nothing to do with it. I called UPS cust. serv. and was told that since it was an automatic, even if it is disassembled, it could be shipped, re-assembled, and fired. It is against their policy to ship such an item. I let them know that if they didn't screw up the shipping we wouldn't have to worry about it getting in the wrong hands! The lady on the phone polited repeated the companies stance and that was that. Looks like I either lie and say it is a pump, or I go through a person with a FFL. What a pain in the ...
On a side note, Benelli has been known for poor customer service for quite some time. I have had nothing but good luck so far. I e-mailed them this morning about this UPS problem, and they emailed back to me within the hour.
