Value of locked horns

I got a call today from a friend of mine who has a set of locked antlers. He's had them for years in a metal garbage can and has never gotten around to doing anything with them. He was wondering if I knew what value these might have and I really didn't know so I'm looking for some assistance. I gave him a B&C scoring sheet to rough score it with and he came up with both bucks (10 ptrs) scoring around 135 - 140. They are locked together and both skulls are intact.

If anyone has an idea of the value or might be interested in purchasing them please let me know.

i don't think they're worth much of anything, tell him i'll give him $10 for them just to get 'em out of his garbage can!

I have three suggestions if he really feels the need to sell them. Check going prices on eBay or just plain list them on eBay, or check with several taxidermists. A taxidermists may wish to purchase them from him and place their own capes on them. My self, if they were mine I would have them mounted and hanging on the wall. I have been searching the woods for years to find a set of locked horns....still searching!

I don't think anyone could tell you what they are worth, but people are willing to tell you what they will give you for them.

My hunting party came across these bucks in `99. They were only there for a couple of days when we found them. Supposedly Cabelas in Mitchell, SD offered a pretty good amount, but the land owner never thought twice about having them mounted and put in his house. The game warden made the landlord and his dad spend their rifle tags on them though.

I have a set of locked horns, one is 170 and the other 153 ( it took some doing to measure them). A taxidermy offered to buy them from me. I really don't want to give the price but he did say he would mount the no less than 2,000. I'm not sellin!!! I will show a pic of them tonight.

I recieved an e-mail the other day that had a picture of a couple big boys locked up that were found on January 10th, 2004 in Illinois. The email said that he was offered $30,000 for them from a guy in Minnesota. I would post it but it has a legal disclaimer attached to it
