My wife made a stew that was so damn good I asked her if we could renew our vows! It was her first try. That got me wondering how many of my fellow hunters have awesome stew recipes to share. I'll get her recipe and post it. Annnnd go!

1 packet of beef aju gravy mix
1 packet of wishbone Italian seasoning
1 lb of hen of the woods (or store bought mushrooms)

Place roast in crockpot and add aju and Italian mix with 1.5 cups of water. Stir to desolve mixes. Cook on low for 6/8 hours- add mushrooms last hour. Pull meat apart after 6 hours(should just fall apart)

Make garlic mash potatoes and serve meat/gravy mix over potatoes (like a hot beef Sunday)

It's AMAZING

Not stew but could be used for stew meat....I canned my first batch of venison last week. I don't know what i was thinking not doing it earlier. It is absolutely awesome....tastes like pot roast.

Pack venison in quart jars
Add - 1 beef bullion cube, 1/2 teaspoon canning salt, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, dash of lowrys.

Pressure cook for 75 minutes at 11 lbs.

You could use with your stew recipe. I fry it up with cut potatoes to make hash. I also put it over mashed potatoes or noodles with gravy. Can't beat it.

The hot beef sunday sounds really good!

This isn't a stew either but I just put a roast in the crock pot with cream of mushroom and lipton onion soup mix.

Add whatever vegatables that you like and let it cook 8 hours on low and it is awesome.

Made some goose that way on Monday, girlfiend said its the best wild game she's had so far.

I've been canning venison for a couple years now. U can also 'pull' the meat and heat in a pan with BBQ for sandwiches also.

For the stews I like to do the roast in a crock for awhile and use many of the recipes on here. Have tried some others like cooking with root beer also. Turned out darn good. The recipe is online. I can a deer or two each year and that is the way to go. Great with potatoes, pulled and bbq, or over rice.

Its not a stew but we also can deer meat, we have found that a can of meat "pulled apart" in a pan with BBQ sauce over it makes an awsome BBQ Deer Pizza! We add mushrooms and banana peppers also.
