Vertical pins?

I'm looking for any opinions on vertical pin bow sights. Advantages? Cons? Best brand? Keep in mind I'm not made of money! LOL. Looking to upgrade my 4-pin horizontal that came on the bow when I bought it after breaking the fiber optic on one this past fall. Thanks!

i had a trophy ridge years ago, that had the verticle pins. i like them. i may go back to them. keeps the sight picture less cluttered

A guy I work with has vertical pins. I can't remember the site. I don't like it. I'm sure I would get used to it, but the few times I have shot it, it just seems kind of annoying. Just My Opinion.

I used a Trophy Ridge sight with the vertical pins for a couple years. They were alright, and worked fairly well when shooting at live game, but shooting targets or anything was very tough if it was anything besides 20 yards, since you cant really see the top or bottom of the pin - You just have to assume your elevation is correct. The sight picture is less cluttered, but I just hated not being able to see under/over the pin.

I have shot vertical pins (trophy ridge sights) for the past 12 years. I started with the standard 5 pin sight by trophy ridge. I absolutely loved this sight. Easy to adjust without any tools. However, two years ago while traveling to my hunting spot by motorcycle a rock took out two of the pins on the sight. A great chance for a new sight. I bought the trophy ridge crazy 8 sight. This sight allows you to sight in your bow to 90 yards. I agree that this is not the sight for paper targets, it is a much better hunting sight. I feel confident up to 70 yards. My longest kill was 73 yards last year.

I also had a trophy ridge with the vertical pins. I loved how easy it was to adjust, however, they were easily distorted when bumped and would move out of alignment. I went back to horizontal pins.. Verticals also weren't very good for shooting 3D.. They seemed to actually block more of the target.

Spot hogg! Not a fan of vertical pins. They push you to shoot tight to the shoulder more commonly I think. That's not good!

How fast is your bow? I'd probably be shooting for the sky just to get an arrow out that far with mine and the deer would be long gone by the time it got there! Did you have to adjust your aim for any potential movement (jumping the string, ducking, whatever)?

Guessing the HHA's work better with a faster bow so you don't have to adjust it as much? Or do you just practice different yardages with the same setting (i.e. set it for 30 yards but know where that will hit at 15, 20, 25, etc)? Of course maybe this only matters when the deer is moving in quickly and you don't have time to adjust the sight. If it's slowly walking in I would think adjusting could be done easily. Just wondering how easy/quick it is to adjust when buck fever sets in!

HHA without a doubt. I leave it set on 25 yds and leave for out to 40 yds. Great sight and it's durable. Can't go wrong
