my dad and i were talking tonight about the independence buck and how it would be the new state record for bow nontypical, well this last deer classic, they had iowas all time records there and i took a picture after looking at the picture, it says I think jim portwood, has the bow nontypical record at 254 1/8 which wouldnt make the independence buck the record, however i looked at the the iowadnrs list of the all time ten and it says that dave gordon 240 4/8 has the record, which would clearly put the independence buck at number one. so im very confused about this, what buck is the one they had at the classic? also it said at the classic the wayne bills buck was number one, but on the dnr website it says its number 3, so as you can tell im confused, can somebody please help me out?

Hey Liv4Rut...I asked the same question as you once before. They said its just how the DNR see's it or something to that effect. Because of the fact, when Jim Portwood shot the buck, he was using fiber optic pins with a battery I think, which are now totally legal. But when it was shot, The DNR had a little bit of a fit. I remember someone telling me that along time ago..Dont take my word for it, just what someone had told me previously...anyone else got the info on that?

The DNR actually confiscated the Portwood buck at one time. He took them to court I believe to get his head back.
